On 15th June, as scheduled, an employee– employer meet took place in the assistant labor commissioner’s (Maharashtra) office in Pune. Representatives of management from Vodafone, Cognizant and Tech Mahindra were present, Wipro not yet attend this meeting.
The employers continued to deny the layoffs. However, employees presented evidence including Separation/ Termination letters and email communication.
The Assistant Labour Commissioner asked employers to present reports justifying the individual layoffs of the petitioners. Employers have also been asked to provide and explanation for the growing number of petitioners. A total as of now 47 individuals from Vodafone, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra and Syntel submitted petitions alleging arbitrary layoffs and forced resignations
The Assistant Labour Commissioner scheduled another employer-employee meet with the labor commissioner expected to take place within 8 days. We expect more employees to come forward and submit petitions and evidence pertaining to the ongoing layoffs before the next meeting.
