On June 21st members of Forum for IT Employees (F.I.T.E) and affected IT employees from Wipro, Hewlett-Packard and J.P. Morgan submitted petitions to the Labour Commissioner (LC) of Karnataka. These petitions raise a dispute under the Industrial Dispute Act and demand that the LC mediate between employers and employee. We expect the LC to call for a conciliation meeting shortly.
Those affected allege that they are being coerced to resign and are being continually harassed by the employer. HP employees are alleging that they have been arbitrarily terminated from employment despite no wrongdoing on their part.
F.I.T.E urges IT employees to refuse to resign when pressurized, collect evidence and file individual (2A) or group petitions (2K) under the Industrial Disputes Act.
