Shall we say NASSCOM is “Employer’s activism”?
As NASSCOM president rightly said, the IT sector should be revising the skill set every now and then to keep up with the emerging technologies. That doesn’t mean sending experienced employees home, without notice.
We, IT employees, also know the need to learn continuously and grow with the organization. It is the responsibility of Employer’s to foresee  the change in technological trend and re-skill the Employees accordingly.
We demand our right of fair appraisal process, proper notice if someone really doesn’t show good performance, and a chance to prove their talent.
Organizations have decided to cut down middle level employees, but they don’t have the guts to accept it. They know they are doing it with profit motive. Instead, they are simply using appraisal process to shield themselves and quoting “poor performance” to terminate employees.
Behind the scenes, managers are getting pressure from the top management to rate somebody as poor performers. It’s a very clever plan. In record the employee is a poor performer just because the manager had to choose someone.
How is that ethical? Every organization has policies that claims it is employee friendly, but is it really following it?
As every other corporates, IT organizations also began to show its true face at the time of crisis. How many organizations discussed with their employees openly about the current situation of gap in demand?
If there’s performance issues with an employee, what took them so long to terminate them, until they reach mid-level?
It’s our rights to question the termination process, and it’s organization’s duty to give us answers. If this is called employees activism, shall we say NASSCOM is Employer’s activism?
If we ask a question about imposing something on us, we are threatened and not getting answers. It’s taking us back to slavery.

We would like to mention that job cuts may increase the profit margins temporarily but damage the industry in the long run.
